About

Hello my name is . I live in the Redwing Neighborhood of Virginia Beach, VA 23454 with my lovely fiance and three wonderful children. I'm an application developer and business owner. I started Stockwell Information Services in January of 2007. Not a moment too soon. I promised myself years ago that I would be self employed by my fortieth birthday, which happened to be on March 24, 2008

I'm definitely a webhead. I keep my pictures on flickr. I use Gmail for all my email (personal and business). I've fallen in love with del.icio.us. The best way to organize your links. I followed the rest of the herd to myspace, although I did this just to keep tabs on my daughter. I've been keeping track of some of my goals on 43 things. And you can IM me if you'd like.

Short of a winning Virginia lotto ticket, I really couldn't ask for much more. I love my family, my job and my hobby. Truth is, I can't tell where my job ends and my hobby begins. I was born to be a hacker. It really keeps me going. It also keeps me up late at night. Much later than the family.

My first foray into programming was Basic, followed by Visual Basic. Everything was Microsoft back then. Then I stumbled, quite by accident, across this operating system called GNU/Linux. It wasn't really the operating system that changed things for me. It was the fact that the GNU/Linux was FOSS developed by ordinary people without intellectual property issues. I learned so much from this community because everyone is willing to share their knowledge.

The longer I hack away, the more I find myself focusing on web technologies. I'm especially interested in the Semantic Web. I try to stay clear of the hype and focus on matching technologies with problem domains. I know that XML won't change the world, but I think it will make the web a stronger and more useful part of our daily lives.
